Producer

SOMMOS

Spain

Sommos is a large producer in Aragón’s Somontano, owned by the Costa family, a major Aragonese agri-food group. Its vineyards are planted with low-yielding vines in soils matched to each variety, with year-round monitoring and parcel selection. The avant-garde winery is gravity-fed to reduce pump energy and uses optical sorting for berry selection. An experimental vineyard tests 20 training systems, reflecting a technical and research-oriented approach to viticulture. The business has expanded through acquisitions including Bodegas Irius and Vinae Mureri, renamed Sommos Garnacha. No organic, biodynamic, or other formal sustainability certifications are mentioned.
