Producer

Shaw + Smith

Australia

Shaw + Smith is a family-owned producer in the Adelaide Hills, founded in 1989 by cousins Michael Hill-Smith MW and Martin Shaw, who remain active alongside next-generation family members Ella Shaw and Mathilda Hill-Smith. The estate focuses on cool-climate wines intended as vibrant, modern expressions of variety, site and season. Its viticulture is low-intervention and organic-leaning, with practices such as winter sheep grazing, minimal tillage, mulching, compost teas, low yields and a strong focus on vine and soil health, despite having no formal certification. Winemaking and leadership include MW David LeMire and senior winemaker Adam Wadewitz, with Murray Leake overseeing viticulture.
