Poggio al Tesoro

Italy

Poggio al Tesoro is a Bolgheri estate in Tuscany founded in 2001 by Marilisa and Walter Allegrini and now run by Marilisa with her daughters Carlotta and Caterina. Its vineyards are spread across four distinct sites around Bolgheri, allowing different soils, exposures, and varieties to shape wines with clear terroir expression. The estate is known for labels such as Sondraia and W – Dedicato a Walter. Sustainability is central to its identity, with EQUALITAS and BRCGS certifications, biosustainable farming criteria, cover crops, selective pruning, reduced yields, night harvesting, no chemical fertilizers, and biodiversity-focused vineyard management. The style combines careful site selection, precise vineyard work, and a modern cellar using steel, barriques, and some experimentation with amphorae and terracotta.
