Kanakaris Winery

Greece

Kanakaris Winery is a family-owned estate in Aigialeia, on the northern Peloponnese, founded in 1979 and now led by the founder’s grandsons, oenologist Michalis and marketing specialist Stefanos Kanakaris. Working across three generations, the winery combines modern facilities and techniques with a focus on the high-altitude Slopes of Aigialeia, where vineyards rise from 400 to over 1,000 metres above the Gulf of Corinth. Its wines aim to express this distinctive terroir—sandy-clay soils, cool maritime influences and strong diurnal variation—through indigenous Greek varieties including Roditis, Malagouzia, Mavro Kalavrytino and Mavrodaphne, alongside selected international grapes. The wines are described as showing intense citrus character and pronounced minerality.
