Hild

Germany

Matthias Hild is a fourth-generation family estate in Wincheringen, in Germany’s Upper Mosel, led by Matthias Hild with his son Jonas, wife Dorlies, and wider family. The estate cultivates historic, terraced Elbling vines—many over 70 years old—on limestone soils, alongside Burgundy and other varieties. Viticulture is traditional and hand-crafted, with hand harvesting, low yields, and no herbicides or insecticides; the family follows organic- and biodynamic-style practices without formal certification. Natural, low-intervention winemaking produces honest, terroir-focused wines, including the low-alcohol, bone-dry Zehnkommanull, while preserving Elbling’s cultural heritage.
