La Visciola is a family-run estate in Piglio, Lazio, founded in 2005 by Piero Macciocca and his wife Rosa, with daughter Cecilia later joining the work. Still owned and operated by the Macciocca family, the winery is led by Piero Macciocca. From the beginning, the estate has farmed organically on red clay soils, using only minimal chemical treatments such as copper and sulfur, along with green manure and natural preparations. These practices led to official biodynamic certification in 2019. The estate works from a tiny garage facility, reflecting its hands-on, artisanal character.
