Georg Gustav Huff

Germany

Georg Gustav Huff is a multigenerational family winery in Nierstein-Schwabsburg, Rheinhessen, with roots dating to 1710. The Huff family farms around 30 hectares, including premier sites on the Roter Hang, where red sandstone and red claystone shape mineral, elegant Rieslings. Daniel Huff focuses on Riesling from Pettenthal, Hipping and Schloss Schwabsburg, while Stefan specializes in expressive Pinot Noir. Vineyard work emphasizes soil health, biodiversity, erosion control and natural protection, using organic fertilizers, cover crops and pheromones rather than mineral fertilizers; the estate also receives support for environmentally friendly steep-slope viticulture. Selective hand harvesting and gentle cellar handling reflect a philosophy combining tradition with innovation, while several generations remain actively involved in the business.
