Fontefico is a family-run organic estate in Vasto, on Abruzzo’s Costa dei Trabocchi, overlooking the Gulf of Vasto. Owned and operated by the Altieri brothers, it grows native varieties including Pecorino, Trebbiano, Montepulciano and Aglianico, with vineyards refreshed by cool, saline Adriatic winds. Every wine is a single-vineyard cru, produced and estate-bottled on the farm, with careful hand-harvesting, natural grass cover, low yields and minimal cellar intervention. The resulting wines express distinct vineyard identities, often with mineral, savory character, structure and longevity. Fontefico’s approach emphasizes respect for nature, authentic territory and the evolution of each wine from vintage to vintage.
