Producer

Antica Fratta

Italy

Antica Fratta is a Franciacorta producer in Monticelli Brusati, Lombardy, with roots dating to 1850 and a modern history shaped by Franco Ziliani from 1979. Its vineyards form a varied mosaic across the Franciacorta hills, particularly limestone- and marl-rich sites, with parcels planted to Chardonnay, Pinot Nero, and Pinot Bianco. The winery focuses on Metodo Classico wines that express individual parcels, using controlled yields, gentle pressing, and refinement in French oak or stoneware amphorae. Bottle fermentation and at least 24 months on lees contribute to a style marked by freshness, aromaticity, sapidity, and depth. A historic 19th-century cellar, including the rock-carved “el cantinù,” remains central to the estate’s identity.
