Alexander Valley Vineyards is a multigenerational, family-owned estate winery in Healdsburg, Sonoma County, founded by Hank and Linda Wetzel in 1975 on historic Cyrus Alexander homestead land. Its vineyards extend from the Russian River to hillside sites, encompassing varied microclimates, elevations, exposures, and soils. The Wetzel family remains closely involved in the vineyard and winery, with winemaker Kevin Hall—at AVV since 1998—and vineyard manager Isaul Macias leading production. Certified organic parcels and broader sustainable certifications support the estate’s focus on responsible farming, including drip irrigation and precise canopy management. Wines are made to express the estate’s grapes and valley character, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Merlot at the core, alongside other varietals. Barrel aging takes place in underground caves, and all AVV wines are vegan and made without added sugar.
