Cà la Bionda

Italy

Cà la Bionda is a fourth-generation Castellani family estate in Marano di Valpolicella’s Classico zone, founded in 1902 and now run by winemaker Alessandro and agronomist Nicola Castellani. The family farms its own hillside vineyards, including the Ravazzol cru, at roughly 150–350 metres, with terraced slopes, restored dry-stone walls and native Valpolicella varieties. Organic viticulture has been practised since 2000 and certified since 2012; the estate also uses cover crops, mechanical weeding and indigenous yeasts. The wines are traditionally styled yet focused on freshness, savoury complexity, minerality and longevity. Particularly distinctive is the Valpolicella, made without appassimento, with low residual sugar and maturation in neutral large-format barrels, alongside structured Amarone, Ripasso and Recioto.
