Producer

Wilhelm Walch

Italy

Wilhelm Walch is a long-established, family-owned estate in Tramin, Alto Adige, founded in 1869 and still run by the Walch family. Its historic winery occupies a former Jesuit monastery once used for wine production, complemented by modern, gravity-assisted cellar facilities. Vineyards in Tramin and Caldaro lie between 250 and 700 metres, often on steep Dolomite-derived calcareous, sandy and clay soils. They are cultivated sustainably, with manual vineyard work and hand harvesting; the estate received Italy’s VIVA sustainability certification in 2024. The wines focus on the typicity of Alto Adige and its local varieties, expressed in a clean, precise, varietally focused style, alongside selected international grapes. Family-owned vineyards are complemented by grapes from contracted growers.
