Closerie du Pelan

France

Closerie du Pelan is a family-founded estate in Francs-Côtes-de-Bordeaux, north of Castillon-la-Bataille, on terroirs extending from the Roc de Saint-Émilion. Established in the 1980s by Régis, Thérèse and Sébastien Moro, it was taken over in 2022 by Jean-Pierre Amoreau and Harold Langlais. The vines, averaging around 30 years old, have always been farmed organically, with organic certification since 2008 and biodynamic certification since 2013, and are cultivated without synthetic fertilizers or herbicides. In the cellar, the approach is low-intervention: indigenous yeasts, gentle extraction, fermentation in open foudres, élevage on lees in used barrels, and wines bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with low sulphur.
