Producer

Bodegas Rodríguez y Sanzo

Spain

Family-owned Bodegas Rodríguez y Sanzo was founded in 2003 by Javier Rodríguez and María Sanzo and works across several Spanish appellations, including Rueda, Toro, Ribera del Duero and Rioja. The project is led by Javier Rodríguez, agronomist and winemaker, alongside Eulogio Calleja, and focuses on singular vineyards, parcel differentiation and minimal intervention. Its own vineyards include pre-phylloxera vines on their original rootstocks, while the winery also seeks out old, high-altitude and minority-variety plots. Based in the Duero, with wineries in Rueda and Toro—including a former Dominican monastery—the producer interprets each landscape through varied ageing and winemaking styles. Its wines aim to express site, variety and the team’s “Inconformist” spirit, with a strong emphasis on quality and value.
