France

Les Astéries is a tiny single-vineyard estate in Saint-Émilion, owned by Right Bank vintner Jonathan Maltus. Its parcel near Fonroque has limestone terroir and is planted with 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, including vines up to 80 years old and producing very low yields. Since the 2013 vintage, consultant winemaker Thomas Duclos has overseen the wine. Although the fruit comes from this distinct small parcel, vinification takes place at Maltus’s larger estate rather than in a dedicated cellar.
