La Dama

Italy

La Dama is a first-generation, family-owned winery founded in 2006 by Gabriele and Miriam Canal in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, with vineyards in Negrar and Sant’Ambrogio. The family cultivates native grapes exclusively, all hand-harvested, across the Ca’ Besi and Colombarino sites. Certified organic since the 2015 vintage under EU Regulation 2018/848, the estate uses natural-origin products, avoids synthetic chemicals, monitors environmental conditions to reduce treatments, and supports biodiversity through its woodland. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentations and the traditional appassimento method are central to expressing Valpolicella’s historic varieties. Gabriele leads winemaking with support from a close family and technical team, while solar panels, lightweight bottles, responsible materials, and naturally ventilated drying rooms reinforce the winery’s sustainability-focused approach.
