Domaine Mamaruta is a family-run estate in Fitou, Languedoc, owned and led by Marc Castan, who inherited his grandfather’s vines in 2003 and launched the label in 2009. Its vineyards lie across La Palme, Roquefort-des-Corbières and Leucate on clay-limestone soils, in sites shaped by nearby lake and seaside influences. Farming follows an organic, biodynamic-inspired approach without certification, with horse work replacing tractors, hand harvesting, hand weeding, hedgerows, on-site compost, and grazing cattle integrated into the farm. In the cellar, Castan works with spontaneous fermentations and minimal intervention: no cultured yeasts, no fining, and only small sulfite additions for some cuvées at bottling. The wines are made with freshness and life in mind, with early harvesting to preserve acidity.
