Founded by Gonzalo Antón in 1987, Izadi is a family-owned winery in Villabuena de Álava, at the heart of Rioja Alavesa, now operated by his son Lalo Antón. Its old-vine parcels around Villabuena, Samaniego and Ábalos are farmed using integrated, sustainable practices, with organic certification reported for Finca El Regalo and the estate pursuing broader organic certification. Poor, varied soils and low yields shape the wines, which focus on indigenous varieties, including old-vine Tempranillo for the Reserva and native white varieties. Winemaking is led by Roberto Vicente. The winery’s vertical design uses gravity across five levels, combining innovation with respect for the natural character of the fruit, while its strong links to gastronomy and sustainable wine tourism reflect the family’s broader hospitality-led approach.
