Domaine Batard Langelier is a multigenerational family estate in Maisdon-sur-Sèvre, in the Loire Valley’s Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation, now led by third-generation winemaker Jérémie Batard. Its organic, terroir-focused vineyards—farmed without herbicides or pesticides and incorporating agroforestry—include varied granite, gneiss and gabbro soils. Melon de Bourgogne is the principal variety, complemented by Folle Blanche. Jérémie and his family make wines using traditional methods: light pressing, indigenous-yeast fermentation in cement and glass-tiled underground tanks, and lees ageing tailored to each cuvée and its soil. Bottlings are unfined and unfiltered, expressing the estate’s diverse terroirs and ocean-influenced Nantes setting.
