Korbel is a long-established sparkling wine house in Guerneville, Sonoma County, California, founded in 1882. Privately held and operated by the Heck family since 1954, it focuses on California méthode champenoise sparkling wines, with a fruit-forward house style and some vintage bottlings aged for extended periods. The winery highlights a time-honored process in which secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle. Sustainability is a clear part of the estate’s approach, with CCOF organic processor certification and Certified California Sustainable Winegrowers status, alongside cover crops, integrated pest management, owl nesting boxes, water conservation, energy-efficiency measures, and a near-zero-waste program. Korbel is led by President Gary Heck and Cellar Master Erica Mandl.
