Producer

Fabrizio Dionisio

Italy

Fabrizio Dionisio is a family-owned producer in Cortona, Tuscany, centered on two hillside estates, Il Castagno and Poggio del Sole. The winery is led by Fabrizio Dionisio and remains closely tied to the family, with the original estate acquired by Sergio Dionisio in the early 1970s. Its focus is overwhelmingly on Syrah, with wines intended to express site and vintage rather than follow rigid formulas. Vineyard work is largely manual, with low yields and limited chemical use; the estate moved toward organic farming and obtained certification for the 2021 vintage. In the cellar, the approach is artisanal and adaptable, using a mix of barrels, casks, cement, amphorae, and traditional large earthenware vessels to shape Syrah wines of minerality, elegance, and finesse.
