Fattoria dei Barbi

Italy

Fattoria dei Barbi is a historic, family-run estate in Montalcino, Tuscany, owned by the Colombini family since the late 18th century, with roots in the region dating to 1352. Now led by Stefano Cinelli Colombini (20th generation), the estate spans about 306 hectares, with 66 hectares dedicated to Brunello di Montalcino. Production is substantial at around 800,000 bottles annually (over 200,000 of Brunello). The philosophy blends deep tradition with innovation, emphasizing low-yield, sustainable viticulture, early adoption of organic practices, VIVA certification, and a 'No Sulphites Added' line. The estate also includes a pioneering cheese dairy, Caseificio dei Barbi, and a museum dedicated to Montalcino and Brunello.
