Domaine Jean Maurice Raffault

France

Domaine Jean Maurice Raffault is a family-run Chinon estate in the Loire Valley with a winemaking history dating to 1693 and fourteen generations. Jean-Maurice Raffault pioneered parcel-by-parcel vinification in Chinon, a practice continued today to express the domaine’s varied sand, gravel, and clay-limestone soils across seven communes. The estate has been converting to organic farming since 2009, with all parcel-selection wines certified organic from the 2019 vintage, and maintains relatively low yields. Wines are traditionally aged in oak barrels in troglodytic limestone cellars, with barrel malolactic fermentation used for the top cuvées. Rodolphe Raffault has led the domaine since 1997, continuing its focus on terroir-driven, carefully crafted wines.
