Domaine Gérard Boulay

France

Gérard Boulay is a family-run estate in Chavignol, in France’s Loire Valley, where Boulay personally manages the vineyards and winemaking, continuing a family lineage dating to the 14th century. The organically farmed vineyards, tended since 1990, lie on steep clay hillsides with Kimmeridgian marl and white limestone soils. Boulay works manually and follows a non-interventionist approach, using natural yeasts, minimal sulfur, and no commercial inoculation. As sole winemaker, he handles the harvest and vinification himself, producing wines in a distinctly artisanal style.
