Domaine Charles Frey

France

Maison Charles Frey is a family-run estate in Dambach-la-Ville, Alsace, with a winegrowing history dating to the early 18th century and a full focus on wine since 1963. Now led by Dominique, Julien and Thiébaud Frey, the domaine farms organically and biodynamically across five soil types, predominantly granite, using composts, cover crops, herbal infusions and other natural methods. Its wines are made with minimal intervention, spontaneous fermentations and indigenous yeasts, aiming to express the minerality and salinity of Alsace’s lieux-dits and Grand Cru Frankstein. The solid-wood, air-conditioning-free bioclimatic cellar reflects the estate’s ecological approach. The family also collaborates with neighboring Domaine Mersiol, sharing a commitment to biodynamic farming and terroir-focused wines.
