Château Puybarbe is a 41-hectare estate in Bordeaux’s Côtes de Bourg, planted mainly with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon on calcareous-clay soils. Finnish owners Riku and Anna Väänänen have pursued sustainable, organic and biodynamic farming, with vegan principles, no herbicides or chemical fertilizers, and no-till practices intended to support biodiversity and soil health. The estate is HVE certified and is preparing for Biocyclic Vegan certification. Winemaking is guided by consulting oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt, with the wines aged in French oak barrels.
