Producer

Alta Heights

United States

Alta Heights is a fiercely independent, family-owned Sonoma producer founded and operated by husband-and-wife winemakers Sean and Joanna Castorani. Their California Alpine wines come from steep, high-elevation vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Sonoma Mountain, Mendocino Ridge and other coastal mountain sites. The vineyards are organically and hand farmed, without formal certification, with an emphasis on sustainable, human-powered viticulture. In the cellar, native fermentations, minimal sulfur and no additives support a hands-off approach. The resulting Chardonnay, Rosé, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon emphasize concentration, aromatics, natural acidity, structure and textured tannins, expressing rugged mountain sites shaped by coastal influence and weathered-in-place soils. Alta Heights was created to make handcrafted, high-altitude wines more accessible while remaining uncompromising in quality and independence.
