Italy

David and Eleanor Fletcher run the independent Fletcher Wines from a former Barbaresco railway station, converted into their home and winery. Working with grapes from the Starderi and Roncaglie crus, they produce small-batch wines from 1–1.3-hectare parcels. Half of their vineyards are certified organic and the remainder are in conversion, with biodynamic practices applied throughout. The Fletchers also own equivalent forest, swamp and grassland to offset their vineyard footprint and protect biodiversity. They handle the winemaking themselves, favouring spontaneous fermentation and minimal intervention.
