Clos de la Roilette

France

Clos de la Roilette is a family-owned Beaujolais estate in Fleurie, run by Alain Coudert, known as “le Marquis,” who succeeded his father Fernand after the family acquired and revived the domaine in 1967. The Coudert family farms Gamay in Fleurie and Brouilly using lutte raisonnée, with minimal synthetic treatments and extensive manual vineyard work. Winemaking is traditional and precise: semi-carbonic whole-cluster fermentation with native yeasts in concrete vats, followed by aging in old oak foudres, with longer élevage for the top cuvée. The wines are low-yield, small-batch, rooted in tradition, and known for finesse, charm, and the ability to age.
