Château des Rontets

France

Château des Rontets is a family-run estate in Burgundy’s Pouilly-Fuissé area, owned by the Gazeau-Varambon family since 1850 and managed since 1995 by Claire Gazeau and her husband, Fabio Montrasi. The estate has practiced organic and biodynamic viticulture since before receiving ECOCERT certification in 2005, avoiding chemicals, using horse-plowing and limiting tractor work. Claire leads the winemaking, with an emphasis on minimal intervention, native-yeast fermentations and vegan-friendly cellar practices. Its vineyards occupy well-draining soils on north- and south-facing slopes at around 350 metres elevation.
