Charles Joguet

France

Charles Joguet is a historic Chinon estate in the Loire Valley, founded in 1957 and later joined by the Genet family. Today it is run by Kevin Fontaine with the Genet family, while Charles Joguet still lives on the property. The domaine is known for helping establish parcel-based, terroir-driven vinification in Chinon, with single-vineyard wines from notable sites including Clos de la Dioterie and Clos du Chêne Vert. Farming is described as low-intervention and agriculture raisonnée, with a gradual move to organic farming that led to certification in 2016; some notes also mention biodynamic conversion. The estate focuses mainly on Cabernet Franc, with some Chenin Blanc, low yields, hand harvesting, and careful sorting.
