Bodega José Antonio García

Spain

José Antonio García is a family-owned Bierzo estate based in Valtuille de Abajo, Castilla y León, run by José Antonio and his partner Julia. The vineyards are divided among more than 80 small plots at 500–650 metres, with clay, sandy, and pebble soils, and are farmed strictly organically without synthetic chemicals. The project focuses on preserving old-vine genetics, biodiversity, and the character of each site, using local organic chestnut compost. Winemaking is low intervention, with manual harvesting, foot treading, and spontaneous fermentations without added yeasts or temperature control. The resulting wines are fresh, elegant, and expressive of Bierzo’s distinctive vineyards.
