Château Vitallis

France

Château Vitallis is a family-owned Burgundy estate at the foot of the Rock of Solutré, cultivated by the Dutron family since 1835. Denis Dutron and his son Maxime manage the vineyards and make the wines, continuing a six-generation tradition. Their Chardonnay vines span several Mâconnais appellations, including Mâcon-Vinzelles, Mâcon-Fuissé, Saint-Véran, Pouilly-Fuissé and Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru. Viticulture includes organic techniques, grassed-over rows to limit erosion and manage yields, and ploughing to reduce pesticide use, without formal certification noted. The wines are made with considered, traditional practices and aged in barrel or vat, with the aim of preserving each terroir’s typicity. The resulting cuvées are described as elegant, characterful and racy.
