Producer

Altar Uco

Argentina

Altar Uco is a boutique producer in Mendoza, founded and owned by winemaker Juan Pablo Michelini, who also leads the winemaking at his family estate, Zorzal. Working with viticulturalist Maia Echegoyen, Michelini follows a minimalist, low-intervention approach. The wines are made over one to two months before extended resting, and are released in two distinct lines: Edad Moderna, focused on short-aged, early-drinking wines, and Edad Media, which uses new and second-use French oak and amphora for longer aging.
