Quinta das Lamelas is a small, family-owned Douro estate near Lamego, held by the same family since 1836 and now run by its fourth generation. Working with neighboring Casa das Laranjeiras and other family properties, it farms steep vineyards sustainably, with most work carried out by hand and only small tractors used for transport. The estate includes old vines, some over 100 years old, alongside newer parcels planted to varieties including Sousão and Fernão Pires. Its Port and Douro wines are made traditionally: grapes are hand-harvested, Port is foot-trodden in granite lagares, and wines age in historic chestnut-wood vats and barrels. Led by Luís Rodrigues, the family focuses on expressing the Douro’s character through low-mechanisation, terroir-driven winemaking.
