Producer

Pierre Gonon

France

Pierre Gonon is a family-run estate in Saint-Joseph in the Rhône Valley, founded in 1956 and now led by brothers Jean and Pierre Gonon, who took over from their father in the late 1980s. The domaine farms steep granite-based vineyards and has practiced organic viticulture since 2004, with certification achieved in 2013. Farming excludes chemical fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides, and includes hand harvesting, horse ploughing, natural composts and low yields. In the cellar, the brothers continue a traditional, low-intervention approach, working with indigenous yeasts and open oak vats. The result is a producer clearly rooted in family ownership, hands-on vineyard work and classic Saint-Joseph winemaking.
