Nitida is a family-owned boutique estate in South Africa’s Durbanville Wine Valley, owned by Bernhard and Peta Veller since 1990. Its intentionally small-scale production focuses on Cape Town Wine of Origin wines from approximately 12 hectares of vines. Bernhard, an engineer, oversees winemaking with Helgard van Schalkwyk, who joined as winemaker in 2023. The estate follows a minimal-intervention approach, guided by careful daily vineyard decisions. Its commitment to place also appears in eco-focused label artwork, made with inks from nitida tree leaves and featuring local Renosterveld flora. No formal sustainability certifications are noted.
