Kusuda is a boutique, family-run winery in Martinborough, Wairarapa, founded and operated by former lawyer Hiroyuki Kusuda, who also serves as winemaker. Working with his son Kensuke and a small team of friends, he cultivates Pinot Noir, Syrah and Riesling and makes handcrafted wines with meticulous hand-sorting and individual berry picking. The estate’s approach is notably hands-on, with ownership, vineyard work and winemaking closely connected.
