Founded in 1895 by ampelographer Chrétien Oberlin, Domaine Viticole de la Ville de Colmar is a municipal estate owned by the city of Colmar in Alsace. Jean-Remy Heffelin and his son Nicolas lead the winemaking and operations. The domaine farms varied sites, including its eponymous vineyard, the Clos Saint-Jacques, and the Hospices Civils de Colmar vineyard. It holds the HVE3 environmental label and has been certified organic since the 2023 vintage. Its wines reflect Colmar’s dry, favorable climate and distinctive soils, combining ripe fruit with mineral freshness; the Clos Saint-Jacques wines are noted for their lively character and ageing potential, while the Hospices wines are full-bodied, refined, and generously aromatic.
