Domaine La Barroche

France

Domaine la Barroche is a family-owned estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, in the Rhône Valley, with roots in the area going back centuries and viticulture passed down through generations. Julien Barrot has led the domaine since 2002, later joined by Laetitia Barrot, with a hands-on family approach through the growing season and harvest. The vineyards lie mainly in the north and north-east of the appellation, on varied terroirs including sand and rolled pebbles, with many centenarian Grenache vines alongside Mourvèdre, Syrah, Cinsault and white varieties. The domaine emphasizes traditional, natural-minded viticulture without herbicides, manual work in the vineyard, and gentle gravity-flow winemaking to preserve the finesse of old vines. Its wines are consistently described as elegant, pure, fresh and balanced, with particular attention to terroir and the expression of Grenache.
