Domaine de La Madone

France

Domaine de la Madone is a family-owned estate in Fleurie, Beaujolais, with six generations of history. It is described as being run by brothers Olivier and Bruno Bererd, while the Despres family is also noted as carrying the domaine’s know-how across generations. The vineyards lie on the renowned Madone hillside, on steep pink-granite slopes, with many old Gamay vines and some very old plantings. Farming is carried out with strong environmental focus, including HVE3 certification and organic certification for the Viognier and part of the Fleurie, alongside notes citing biodynamic, Demeter-certified methods. Work in the vines is largely manual, with hand harvests, parcel-by-parcel vinification, and traditional whole-cluster, gravity-led winemaking. The estate specializes in Fleurie, producing wines shaped by site selection and a range of élevage choices.
