Chalmers is a family-owned Victorian winery founded by Bruce and Jenni Chalmers and now run by their daughters, Kim and Tennille. Its 80-hectare vineyard in northern Heathcote is sustainably farmed with a focus on soil health, hand-picked grapes and low sulfur use. The site’s rocky soils include ironstone, dolerite, green basalt, shale and quartz. Chalmers specialises in matching Italian grape varieties to Australian terroir, using minimal-intervention methods including wild fermentation in stainless steel and six months’ steel aging. The resulting wines are unfined, unfiltered and vegan, reflecting a clear emphasis on transparent, hands-off winemaking.
