Carter Vintners is a five-generation, family-owned boutique winery in Margaret River, Western Australia. Winemaker Ryan Carter takes a hands-on approach to handcrafted, unfiltered wines made on a small scale. The vineyards lie on ancient, low-nutrient gravelly soils and are farmed dry, without irrigation, with an emphasis on biodiversity; blue-banded bees are present among the vines. Grapes are hand-picked and fermented with natural wild yeasts, while ungrafted vines contribute to the estate’s distinctive heritage. The wines are labeled Sustainable and Vegan, reflecting the family’s environmentally conscious philosophy.
