Founded in 1974 by a group of Basque entrepreneurs, Bodegas LAN is based in Fuenmayor, Rioja. The winery works with its own vineyards and those of growers in Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, including old Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Graciano and Garnacha vines. Its viticulture is manual and sustainable, avoiding chemical herbicides, using biological pest control and encouraging biodiversity while respecting natural cycles. LAN’s wines are presented as authentic, approachable expressions of Rioja, balancing fruit and ageing, and the winery was an early adopter of mixed American and French oak barrels for its Crianza and Reserva wines. Its philosophy centres on passion, origin and creating uncomplicated, inspiring and surprising wines.
