Pago del Vicario is a single-estate Vino de Pago in Castilla-La Mancha, set beside the Guadiana River near Ciudad Real. Its vineyards are divided into individual parcels with varied soils and are planted to Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The estate emphasizes parcel-specific viticulture and a philosophy of moving grapes quickly from vineyard to winery so the wines express their origin. Its range includes powerful, complex reds, fresh aromatic whites and sweet wines. The property also includes a winery, boutique hotel, restaurant and guided enotourism experiences. Although some materials describe ecological practices such as composting, crop rotation and biodiversity management, the wines are not certified organic.
