Domaine Lignier-Michelot is a family-owned estate in Morey-Saint-Denis in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits, now in the hands of Virgile and Laure Lignier. A fourth-generation domaine, it farms vineyards across key villages including Morey-Saint-Denis, Gevrey-Chambertin, Fixin, Chambolle-Musigny, and Nuits-Saint-Georges. The estate follows organic-aligned, non-certified farming, using natural pesticides, close soil work, lunar-calendar timing, and biodynamic experiments with an emphasis on biodiversity and terroir expression. In the cellar, Virgile favors minimal intervention and a high proportion of whole-cluster fermentation, with élevage designed to preserve freshness, balance, and finesse. The wines are described as supple, deep, and expressive of Pinot Noir and the character of the Côte de Nuits’ great climats.
