Producer

D.S. Bio

Italy

Founded in 2012 by Danilo Scenna, D.S. Bio is an agricultural company in Pescosolido, Lazio, at around 630 metres above sea level. The estate follows certified organic and biodynamic agriculture, avoiding chemical fertilisers and herbicides in favour of biodynamic preparations, green manure and compost from farm manure. Vineyard work is largely manual or horse-assisted, while cellar work follows lunar phases; wines ferment and age in concrete, with gravity-fed transfers. The producer focuses on native varieties of the Valle di Comino and Media Valle del Liri, including Maturano, Pampanaro, Capolongo, Lecinaro and Uva Giulia. Small vineyard parcels lie among olive groves and woodland, with traditional, sometimes free-standing vines trained on trees. The wines aim to express the mineral character of this mountainous territory while preserving its local genetic heritage.
