Cartuxa is a family-run Alentejo producer based in Évora, owned and operated by the Eugénio de Almeida family through the private Fundação Eugénio de Almeida. Working from historic vineyards on granitic soils, the estate follows a sustainable, low-intervention approach focused on expressing terroir. Practices include low-yield viticulture, indigenous yeasts, minimal sulfur, and fermentation in temperature-controlled concrete and wooden vats, despite having no formal certification for the main range. The wines are made in a traditional style and matured in French oak, with restrained use of new barrels. Organic certification is noted for the EA Red BIO line.
