Bergsig Wine Estate is a Lategan family-owned and operated estate in South Africa’s Breedekloof Wine Valley, where the family has farmed since 1843 across seven generations. All grapes come from the estate’s own vineyards, with wines produced and bottled on the property. Situated on the upper Breede River Valley at 240–350 metres, the estate benefits from a Mediterranean climate, cold winters, slow ripening and marked day-night temperature variation. Its soils include weathered sandstone and diverse valley-floor deposits shaped by the Worcester Fault. Bergsig prioritizes sustainable farming and conservation, including IPW certification and the restoration of more than 437 hectares of natural habitat. The wines include estate bottlings, single-block and old-vine selections, and the Icarus and Lategan Reserve ranges, reflecting a multigenerational winemaking tradition.
