Family-run Angerhof-Tschida is based in Illmitz, in Burgenland’s Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel region beside Lake Neusiedl. Hans Tschida and his family focus particularly on sweet wines, including ice wine and botrytis-affected styles, with around 70% of production in the Prädikatswein category. The area’s warm days, cool nights, humidity, salt lakes and varied sandy, gravelly, mineral and black-earth soils support wines of freshness, elegance, clear varietal character and natural sweetness. Careful hand harvesting, precise fermentation control and reductive winemaking are used to express the terroir. The winery emphasizes working in harmony with nature and holds Nachhaltig Austria and IFS certifications. Its sweet wines have received repeated national and international recognition, with Sämling a notable speciality.
